I have wanted to share these bouquets with all of you. Yes, they were transferred from my previous blog that will be closed very soon. I just want to gather ones that I really love on this blog before I do so.
Looking back, I realised that I was really fond of succulents. I used them every chance I got. (also see here) They were resilient, beautiful and very amiable; the rare qualities I found in flowers. You could argue that many flowers have that same qualities as well, and I probably agree with you, but these succulents are my favourite flowers to get my hands-on.
If you want to make it yourself, check out “Floristry: a step-by-step guide” by Judith Blacklock and Lesley Young for wiring techniques; you can apply them to most succulents. Another good thing about these bouquets is that you can prepare/wire the succulents way ahead of time, and then arrange the bouquet 1-2 days ahead depends on your add-on flowers.
Here are the lists of add-on flowers for each bouquets, just in case you want to make them yourself.
- for purple bouquet, I added purple calla lilies, waxflowers and craspedias
- for pink bouquet, I added pink gypsophilas, snowberries and roses
- for white/green bouquet, I just added white roses
The add-on flowers should also have hard stems and not bruise easily. So you might want to hold off soft stem and delicate flowers for this type of bouquet. (That’s right!!! No tulips, anemones, ranunculus and a like).
I hope you consider this type of earthy, humble, and friendly bouquets in your next event. 🙂
P.S. I arranged these bouquets last year when I still used iPhone 4S to take pictures. Though, the purple bouquet and white/green bouquet photos were taken by my wonderful in-law, Macia Irving and her Canon.
