1. Ha! I know you exactly what you mean about revisiting the parents later on. Mine ask me to cook and then mom complains about the amount of dishes I use, the ingredients, even the cutting board I select! I literally moved Thanksgiving to my house with the singular caveat that she stay out of my kitchen! I love your food styling posts, and you’re right, the almond glaze cake is so photogenic! I can see how the color and simplicity of the cheesecake would be so challenging, but you did an excellent job!

OMG!!! I am so glad to hear I am not the only one “fighting” with my mom.. hahaha It might be a mother-daughter thing cause my mom is the same way 🙂

Thank you SO SO MUCH for your kind words, Cheryl. So sweet of you 😀

  2. I love the term “happy hiatus” rather than vacation, and am so glad that you’ve been able to enjoy the time you’ve spent there, even though it has been under your parent’s roof. And also, you did a wonderful job styling these cakes. Your work is always so beautiful.

What a wonderful comment, Meghan… Thank you SO MUCH for your kind words. I am so happy to hear that cause I had such a hard time styling that cheesecake being out of my territory et al. You are so sweet 🙂

  3. What a gorgeous cake Pang! I completely get the love through nagging part! I have a dream of visiting Thailand some day, I’ll have to save your suggestions for beaches so I know the best places to go.

    • Pang

Please do visit one of those beaches; they are all incredible, and I guarantee you & your family will love them.
Thank you so much for your kind words as always, Maria. I guess all moms do that “love through nagging” part 🙂

  4. Your positive spirit is so lovely, Pang 🙂 it makes me smile every time I visit! (Your blog name is so apt!) Happy hiatus is such a wonderful way to put it. These photos are so beautiful — such an exciting endeavor for you!!! And your bowls story made me laugh. My mom is the same way. Love that you can chuckle about it :):) just another way that your lovely personality shines through. Thank you for sharing!!

I, too, am so very happy every time I see you ‘here,’ Cynthia. I must say the positive spirit is contagious and unavoidable; I couldn’t help being who I am because my blogger friends, you included, are so much fun to be around, even just virtually 🙂
Thank you SO MUCH for your comment, always.

  5. love these pictures dear pang!! looks amazing and so delish!! and i totally understand what you mean – parents will be always parents no matter how old you are 😀

Always LOVE LOVE LOVE when you both are here 😀
SO HAPPY you like the post.

  6. Sounds like you had a fun time on your happy hiatus! You’re killing me with these two cakes, cheesecake and coffee cake are my most favorite cakes ever!!!

    • Pang

Thank you SO MUCH for your kind words. I do have a great time, but am, too, worried about my blog. hahaha
Oh well, at least, I am so glad you still ‘here’ with me 🙂

  7. Ha – I love that she has particular soup and dessert bowls. I’m totally going to be like your mom someday. These shots are gorgeous – and you’re right, that coffee cake with the mound of nuts is super photogenic (although you brought out its natural beauty in these photos! A subject is only as pretty as its photographer:). Thailand is up there on my list of places to visit – I’m bookmaking these suggestions!

    • Pang

You are SO SWEET, Sarah. So sorry for the late reply, which I will explain why on my next post.
Yes, please visit one of these beaches when you come to Thailand; they are quite new to Thais as well, and they are spectacular. You might be able to find more updated links once you decide to visit. I will be happy to point you to the right direction, please let me know. 🙂

Oooh, both desserts look so scrumptious. Would love to have bites of both right now. Yummy!

    • Pang

Love youuuuuu, Margaret. I would love that very much. Thank you for being ‘here.’ 🙂

  9. Haha, I totally feel you. Staying with my parents isn’t a vacation, either. I love my mom but she still drives me crazy! These cake shots are fabulous, however. What a lucky friend you have. 🙂

    • Pang

Oh hahaha, you too? I love to hear that I am not the only one feeling this way. Thank you so much for your wonderful comment, my sweet friend, Alanna.

      Miss you & XOXO
