I have no idea how time in Thailand flew by so fast; basically, I spent my time helping taking care of my nephew, taking photos around town, going to many museums, hunting for props, going to Thai National Book Fair, and most importantly, having fun with my family & friends. I probably need to ship 2 postal packages back to San Francisco by boat because of all the props and books I recently bought. But if you ask me whether I should call this trip a “vacation,” I would not hesitate to say, “nope, it’s not.” I think of it as my “happy hiatus” or the very best, “a working vacation.”
As some of you might agree, living under parents’ roof again after 15+ years of living apart is NOT a vacation. Granted, it is just a mere 2 months so far, I have had many funny arguments along the way with my mom. For example…
Mom: Why did you use this bowl for dessert? (for Thai dessert)
Me: Well, it’s big enough and it’s a bowl. What is the different and which bowl should I use?
Mom: The glass bowls are for dessert, and the white ones are for soup.
Me: (chuckle) Ok mom, I will comply next time.
And I think it’s so cute when my aunt still reminded me to take an umbrella whenever I was about to go out. My family has shown their love through nagging ever since I remember, and I do miss them very much. Now that I get a chance to be with them 24/7, I don’t even mind that I mostly stay in Bangkok. Though if you visit Thailand, I would highly recommend you visit one of these beaches; they are not yet a tourist destination, so the price is reasonable with a million dollar view. 🙂
- Ko Lipe (เกาะหลีเป๊ะ)
- Ko Pha Ngan (เกาะพะงัน)
- Koh Tachai (เกาะตาชัย)
- Secret Island (เขาหน้ายักษ์)
- Mai Ton Island (เกาะไม้ท่อน)
As I said, this trip is my working vacation, and this is actually a part two of Food styling and Food photography gig I did for my friend. Part one is here if you are interested. The challenge for this set is the cheesecake. The limited props and the colour of the cheesecake drove me insane; it took me awhile to get what I (kind of) wanted as I also needed to preserve the integrity of the dessert. I couldn’t ‘style’ the shoot too much that it might be misleading to her customers. As for the coffee cake, it tasted so scrumptious and because of mountain of almond glaze, it’s really photogenic.
As always, thank you so much for stopping by. Hope you enjoy this post even just a little bit. 🙂
P.S. If you have problems getting more info. about those beaches, I might be able to help directing you to the correct people/Organisation. Please let me know. (No, I don’t have anything to do with any website / resort etc.)
