I am not going to lie I feel very humble, yet ecstatic when Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year announces the finalists recently, April 27. Even though I had been contacted that 2 of my photos were shortlisted and eventually chosen as finalists, I was in the fog until now that my photos came in 3rd and ‘highly commended’ in Food Bloggers category.
So, this post should have been about self-praise, self-promotion and self-publicist; instead, I feel that it should be about self-realization, self-approval and simply self-delight. The fact of the matter is I am horrible at those SELF-Ps. I haven’t been good at doing them, and (I am pretty sure) I will never be. I haven’t been engaged in social media enough. I don’t participate in activities, which will promote my blog nearly as often as I should. In other words, I should have worked harder to tell the world what I do— ‘pimp that work,’ as Chase Jarvis said it.
So, I am writing this post to say Thank you to Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year for choosing my photos and for letting me be among this fantastic group of food photographers; I am truly honoured and overjoyed. Thank you Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year for ‘pimping’ my works to the world since I haven’t been doing a good job at it. Thank you Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year for confirming what I have known all along— but sometimes, have self-doubt— that I want to do this for the rest of my life. To say that this recognition makes my day is just understated.
If you want to see & pin photos from this event, please do so from its website; every single photo is amazing and truly inspiring. I hope you click over to see all of them. I need to blur some photos on this post because those are not mine to share freely. I hope you understand.
A couple of days after I posted this, my friend who lives in London went to the exhibition and snapped these below photos for me. How I wish I could be there in person, oh well.
Also, in the spirit of this post— after all, this is a food blog, I am going to give you the recipe links for that particular photos of mine as well, which are ‘strawberry cayenne chilli jam glazed bacon with pickled bitter melon in a bun’ & ‘yum wun sen.’
Until next time, have a wonderful day 🙂
