When you plan a trip to San Francisco, what is in your itinerary? Alcatraz, Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman’s Wharf, etc. If you are a foodie, I’m sure your plan involves Tartine Bakery, Zuni Cafe, and Bi-Rite Creamery. That is a good travel plan, but care to make it FANTASTIC? Then you should visit Ferry Plaza Farmers Market as well.
Now, as a resident in San Francisco for 4 years, I have been to Ferry Plaza Farmers Market on Saturday almost weekly for as long as I have lived here. I could have told you how much I love this farmers market. I could have explained why you should visit Ferry Plaza Farmers Market on Saturday if you’re ever in town. I could have prattled about the fantastic vendors in the market that I’ve come to love and have stopped by weekly. I could have written about those topics over and over, but why use words when I can simply show you my photographs. You will be the judge of that while I will be totally silent on the sidelines waiting for your comment.
At the very least though, I hope you check out these vendors whenever you get here. They are my usual stops, and they are beyond wonderful.
Acme Bread —‘Pain de Mie’ & ‘Herb slab’ please
Blue Bottle Coffee — Latte is my drink, but drip coffee is also fantastic. While you are here, try the waffle as well.
Cowgirl Cremery — ask to try their ‘Wagon Wheel’
Dirty Girl Farm — the array of produce sunshine that make me smile every week
Bombolone (Italian filled doughnut) — find it in the building in front of Village Market
Downtown Bakery & Creamery — ‘Volcano’ & fresh fruit galettes are A must
Eatwell Farm — Lavender salt makes a great gift + I love the ‘Softer’ drink.
Far West Fungi — for mushroom lover, this is THE SHOP for you!!!
Green Gulch Farm — seasonal vendor, only here during Summer, but you are going to love a million different kinds of lettuces and many wonderful produce at this stall
Hog oyster — even you don’t care about oysters, you will want to have them here; so fresh & so good
Hot Chocolate — THE BEST hot chocolate I’ve ever had, and please don’t skip the cream — it’s located opposite Frog Hollow Farm.
Humphry Slocombe & Miette are right next to one another — If I were you, I would either have a cupcake or a macaron from Miette AND walk over to Humphry to have a scoop of ‘Secret Breakfast’ or Bourbon & Coke Float.
Little Apple Treats — try their rainbow shrubs, which also make a great gift!!!
Marin Roots Farm — a fantastic vendor — ask them anything about their ‘tiny’ produce, they are SO FRIENDLY & knowledgeable.
Primavera Mexican Food — I would be happy eating ‘Chilaquiles with organic eggs’ every morning for the rest of my life — yes, it’s THAT GOOD!!!
Roli Roti — A must eat for a meat lover, Try ‘Porchetta Sandwich’
How do you like this market, so far? Would you like to visit ASAP? If my post prods the urge to visit, even just a little bit, then mission accomplished!!! By the way, I can confidently say that ALL vendors and restaurants here are good. I love all of them, but those from the list happen to be my favorite.
See you on Saturday whenever you get here.
